Meet Chris Chickering

Chris Chickering is a recording artist and therapist whose songs blend folk, rock and world music influences with themes of hope, healing and empowerment. If you’re drawn to personal growth and seek the highest expression of your gifts, his music offers a powerful soundtrack.

Growing up in the cultural mix of San Francisco, Chris carried his Alvarez DY-38 everywhere, playing covers through high school and beyond. For years he believed writing his own songs was “impossible for me” – until one day he overruled that voice and wrote “Reinvent Yourself,” the song that cracked the door open to a whole new chapter.

Chris has released six studio albums: Shine (2012), Living in the Now (2013), The Resurrection of Me (2014), The Better Side (2015), Regeneration (2015), and The Hero’s Journey (2017). Together they trace an arc of personal growth, resilience and hope, and showcase his commitment to making music that helps people feel seen and supported.

Chris’s records are produced and co-written with Emmy-winning and Grammy-nominated composer Greg Barnhill (Tim McGraw, Chicago) and Ron Alan Cohen (Shine). Engineering has been overseen by Greg Bieck (Hall & Oates, Train) and Mills Logan (Toby Keith, Taylor Swift), with session players whose credits include work with artists such as Taylor Swift, The Eagles, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Carrie Underwood. As Barnhill puts it, “His vision and our emotional connection lead to extraordinary songs. It is an honor to be a part of something that helps people change their lives.”

His music has found its way into a variety of spaces where people come to heal, grow and be inspired. Chris’s songs have appeared in the feature film Miles Between Us (“A Little More Heaven…”), been utilized by The Tony Robbins Foundation, and received praise from transformational leaders like Deepak Chopra and New York Times bestselling author Bob Proctor, who said: “Chris Chickering’s songs can change your life in so many positive ways.

Onstage, Chris moves easily between intimate solo performances, duets and trios, and full-band shows with his group, Chris Chickering and the Now. His “keynote concerts” weave storytelling and original songs into an immersive experience designed to uplift and empower audiences. He has shared stages with artists like Michael Franti & Spearhead at the Santa Fe Yoga Festival and performed at wellness conferences, corporate trainings, spiritual centers, colleges and private events.

Behind the music is a deep interest in how people grow and heal. Chris holds an MA in Counseling and has trained in modalities such as EMDR, NLP and hypnotherapy. His background as a therapist and coach quietly informs his songwriting, giving his lyrics psychological depth and a sense of hard-earned hope.

He has also contributed chapters to two #1 Amazon bestselling personal development books, Next Level Your Life and Persistence, Pivots & Game Changers, extending his “music for positive change” mission onto the page.

Now based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Chris stays grounded through fitness, hiking in the mountains and practicing sleight-of-hand magic. Through it all, one message runs through his work and his life: everyone has an inner voice that says “you can’t,” and an unrealized dream on the other side of that fear. His music exists to remind people they’re not alone in that struggle – and to encourage them to keep moving toward the greatest story they can imagine for their lives.

Chris’s music is available on all major streaming platforms, with CDs and merchandise available at www.ChrisChickeringMusic.com.
